City Council Hopefuls to Pull Out All the Stops |
With campaign time running out for Fairfield City Council hopefuls, the last weekend before the election Tuesday is being occupied by television commercials, telephone calls and lots of walking.
It is the first election of Matt Garcia's political career. Garcia, a financial services representative for a local bank, has been discussing his plans to run since early spring. A recent graduate of Armijo High School, he attended Solano Community College and manages a Little League baseball team. Many of the candidates have timed their final mailers to arrive at homes in time to possibly sway voters.
'I'm going to be out and about this whole weekend,' Garcia said.
Garcia said he will spend time going door to door, visiting with voters at community dinners and fundraisers and unveiling the last in a series of mailers and automatic telephone calls. Garcia said he has seen or heard of multiple polls that show him finishing in various positions toward the top of the eight-candidate field.
He already has one series of automatic telephone calls going out that feature former mayor Gary Falati and said he hopes the final one, featuring himself, will firm his hold on a seat. The Daily Republic Ben Antonius November 3, 2007 |
